Suspected Telephone or E-mail Scam

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) would like to alert members of the public for reported cases of suspected fraud through telephone or e-mail. The suspect normally represents to be a staff member of a bank or financial institution and advises the victim that she or he has won a lottery or that a deposit is waiting for her/him to collect.  The victim will then be provided with a telephone number for arranging the necessary procedures. The whole process is geared to obtaining information relating to the personal identity and bank account of the victim.

Anyone who encounters situations as described above is advised to contact the bank concerned for verification and report the case to Judiciary Police immediately.
