Suspected fraud: Heng Tai Bank

The Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM) would like to alert members of the public in Macao to a suspected fraudulent bank called ‘Heng Tai Bank’, which claims to have establishment in Macao.  The entity advised members of public by email or telephone that they had won a lottery, and requested them to provide personal details with a telephone number provided by it.

The public should be aware that the alleged “Heng Tai Bank” is not authorized under the Financial System Act to carry on banking business, nor does it have the approval to establish an office in Macao.

AMCM has referred the case to the Judiciary Police for further investigation. Anyone who has provided his or her personal information to the entity or has transacted with it should contact Judiciary Police immediately.
